Would not recommend. 15 min private lessons are way too overpriced and ineffective for two reasons.

First, instructors don’t honor the entire 15 minute time slot you are paying for. As an example, just two days ago, our instructor started two minutes late but ended on time. So when you’re paying for 15 mins, every minute counts. Front desk didn’t do anything about it either.

Second, instructors call in sick all the time, and they don’t tell the substitutes what they’ve been doing with their student. They will say they do, but trust me, they really don’t. I’ve even asked some of the subs and they have no clue. So you’re basically watching your kid do basic things or they just have them go down the slide. It’s so frustrating and big waste of time.

We are going to take our kid to the local YMCA. There you pay less and have more time in each lesson. Way more worth it.

We love this place, specially that they provide make up lessons all the sessions we missed. Also during the year few months they have plans that we can swim as many times as we want by calling every day confirming availability. I felt every pennies i spent worth. Ms Rylee is the best instructor!

Just like any coach or personal trainer, especially when you’re a kid, sometimes it takes a few tries to find the person that “clicks” with you. It took six different instructors before my kid found his energy and style match, and he’s been teaching him for over four years now. Ryan and Wyatt and excellent, knowledgeable, long-time teachers; and both my kids have excelled during their years of one-on-one lessons. I highly recommend Watersafe. Don’t forget that sometimes with kids, it’s not just the instructors, but it’s the kid that’s having an issue; you just need to find your fit and it may not be here, but that doesn’t mean the school is bad.

This was the most useless $220 we’ve ever spent. Plus $20 for a neoprene diaper and $40 for a wetsuit that must be purchased from this school. It was our first lesson — my child is 2 years old. She hadn’t even had time to understand where she was, when some strange man (the instructor) started pouring water over her head. Our session ended 10 minutes after it began, and I spent the next 20 minutes calming her down from a full-blown meltdown.

We managed to convince her to try again, and this time no one touched her — but she was already scared. Our child loves the water and always plays happily in the ocean. We didn’t want her to develop a fear of water because of an instructor’s lack of professionalism.

They refused to refund us anything. I do not recommend this place.

We love love love Watersafe so much! They have amazing instructors who use innovative ways to support kids as they get comfortable in the water. They’re good at finding the balance between challenging the kiddo while also being there to support them, which is so critical as a kid gets used to the water.
I’m still so heartbroken that their original location in Seal Beach was forced to close down (because of some ridiculous issue related to the city and the school having to have dedicated parking spots). We’ve been making the trek to this new location because I can’t find any comparable swim schools closer to home.
