July 2024 Very bizarre that bikes are prohibited on the west side of Deschutes River Trail – South Canyon Reach, which has a nice wide trail.
Bikes are allowed on the east side which is a terrible trail for bikes mixing with walkers and runner’s. Its narrow and rocky.
Update.
July 2025 BPRD Playbook just arrived. No mention of working on improving the trail.

The best parks and rec department in the country. The thought that goes into the location and design of new parks, the ever-expanding trail system, and the seemingly endless number of activities for kids and adults alike–it’s amazing. As we get ready to wake up early (6am!) for activity signups, we’re reminded of how many wonderful options we have here. Thank you for everything you all do!

Great programs. Awesome workers. Truly cared for equipment, staff, facilities and sports gear. Great communication. Generally awesome for the town of Bend.

They have great artwork throughout the park. A nice loop trail that is a around a mile and a half, a lovely view of the lake, a dog park and area to launch kayaks or canoes. There is also a playground, picnic areas. Its a very nice recreation area.

GUYS please put in bridges and culverts. These are the worst trails I’ve ever ridden. They’re over flat hillside so they collect water everywhere, y there’s no bridges over streams, and people bring their horses and screw up all the trails in the wet season. If you ride a bike, don’t bother until late June.
